Sabah

   Mat Salleh, North Borneo's first native hero.

North Borneo's first native hero, Mat Salleh, had his first fort at Ranau but was later captured in Tambunan by the North Borneo Constabulary on February 1st, 1900. A stone memorial is erected in Tambunan Town to commemorate the capture of Mat Salleh. Those who wish to visit his memorial can stop by Tambunan town, on the way from Kota Kinabalu City to Keningau, Batu Punggul, and Tenom Agricultural Garden.

   Charles Jessel, Vice Chairman of the British North Borneo Company.

Sir Charles Jessel was responsible to establish a trading post at Gaya Island (off Kota Kinabalu) before the administrative center of BNBC was move to Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu was orginally called Jesselton (named after Charles Jessel) and is the present State Capital of Sabah.

  

Sarawak

   James Brooke, 1st White Rajah of Sarawak.

Came to Sarawak in 1839.
Ruled Sarawak from 1842 until his death in 1868.

   Charles Brooke, 2nd White Rajah of Sarawak.

Charles Brooke succeeded James Brooke as the White Rajah of Sarawak until 1941.
Charles Brooke is a nephew of James Brooke.
The Japanese occupied Sarawak from 1941 to 1945.
   Charles Vyner Brooke, 3rd White Rajah of Sarawak.

Sir Charles Vyner Brooke resume his role as the White Rajah on April 15, 1946.
The British colonised Sarawak on July 01, 1946.

  

Brunei

   Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan of Brunei.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, is the 29th of his line, which dates back to the fourteenth century.

Being the eldest son, he became Crown Prince in 1961 and ascended the Throne on 5th October 1967 following the voluntary abdication of his father, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien.

His Majesty the Sultan was crowned on 1st August 1968 in pomp and pageantry befitting Brunei's ancient customs and traditions.

His Majesty was born on 15th July 1946 at the Istana (Palace) Darussalam in the capital, Brunei Town (now Bandar Seri Begawan).

His Majesty is married to Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajjah Saleha and has ten children - four princes and six princesses.

His Majesty's official residence is the Istana Nurul Iman, which is also the country's seat of administration.

   Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Crown Prince of Brunei.

H.R.H. is the third child of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam.

He was born at the Istana Darul Hana, Bandar Seri Begawan, on 17 February 1974 (24 Muharam 1394).

On 10th. August 1998, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah formally inaugurated as the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam. His formal accession to the title of Crown Prince places His Royal Highness in line to become the 30th Sultan of Brunei.
